Maintaining Your DaVinci Classic and Ascent

on

It has been a few years now since we released our first ever vaporizer, now referred to as the DaVinci Classic, and a couple years since the DaVinci Ascent introduced the innovative all-glass air pathway.

As it has been a good length of time, it is likely that you may have noticed a decline in performance or that your vaporizer doesn’t work quite like it used to. It could be that your vaporizer is in need of some maintenance and upkeeping to get it back up to how it was when you first got it.

The video below is a quick overview to know whether the Ascent or DaVinci Classic is for you.

Today, we will be going over some ticks and tricks to get the most out of your DaVinci Classic or DaVinci Ascent vaporizer and how to get it clean and good as new, beginning with our premier device. The DaVinci Classic was designed for use with both dry herb and with oil, and both can leave a bit of a mess behind.

The metal cleaning brush the device came with is perfect for brushing out the oven as well as the oil cans, or any of the hard to reach places in the device’s airpath. Over time, the screens in the device can become clogged with debris or resin, so you may need to switch them out for new screens. You can get a pack of new screens here.

Alternatively, you can also use a q-tip with isopropyl alcohol. This is our go-to for getting our devices sterile and freeing the vaporizer from any lingering debris. Make sure that you unscrew the cap on the upper chamber and clean out the inside, as material can accumulate there over time.

If you have lost the upper chamber cap, make sure you get a new one as it is an excellent filter from keeping herb from getting through the flexi-straw and into your mouth.

As for the flexi-straw, this too can have material build-up inside of it over time and block air-flow. Make sure you are carefully unscrewing the straw semi frequently so as to clean the attachment end as it can become permanently affixed and break if you try unscrewing it, which you definitely don’t want to happen.

The extended flexi-straw is especially susceptible to becoming clogged, so to clean out these straws you want to make sure you are running a steady stream of water through them periodically to clean out any debris that may have lodged itself inside. If you are noticing a reduction in your airflow, this is the most likely culprit.

Some tips for keeping your device clean going forward are to make use of the metal cans that came with the device. The one without a metal coil inside can be used for your dry herb, and this makes cleaning the oven much easier as you only have to remove the can from the oven when you want to clean it, and you can wash the can out with water and place it back in the oven for use again. The can with the metal coil is meant for use with oil, as it traps and holds the oil so it can be properly heated and vaporized. Make sure you don’t use too much oil, as it can drip out the bottom and get into the internals of your vaporizer and permanently damage it.

If you are in need of some or all of these items, you can get them for a discounted price in the DaVinci Accessory Pack, which includes a pack of screens, the metal cans, and a flexi-straw.

Now, on to our second vaporizer: The Ascent.

This vaporizer was also designed for use with both dry herb and with oils, however we went a different route and changed the airway to be all glass so as to create a purer taste.

This, however, also means the device is a bit more fragile, as glass is breakable. You want to make sure you are being very careful when cleaning the glass straw pieces so as not to break them.

The biggest factor that can inhibit your device from working at full quality are the small airholes on the bottom of the glass straw piece. This is the piece that is located directly above the oven.

Using a q-tip with isopropyl alcohol, cleanout the holes to make sure the vapor can freely make its way through the glass straw and into your mouth. If the holes have built up with too much resin, you can leave the straw pieces sitting in hot water to loosen up the resin and make them easier to clean.

If your glass set has any cracks in it or you find that the holes are too hard to clean, you can get a new replacement set here.

Apart from the glass set, the main other thing that you need to clean is the oven. You can use a q-tip with isopropyl alcohol to clean out the oven and make sure there is no leftover dry herb clinging to the surface, as this can inhibit the herb from vaporizing evenly.

Keep in mind that the oven can and will stain over time, and this is not removable. Cleaning the oven too forcefully in an attempt to get rid of this staining can permanently damage the oven, so make sure that you don’t do this! Swabbing the inside until there is nothing cleaning to the surface is all you need to do. Also, be sure to clean out the glass spacers if you are using them.

These are removable but can become stuck inside the oven over time due to resin buildup. If you find that this has happened, turn the vaporizer on for a couple minutes so it heats up and then use the metal pick tool to carefully pry the metal spacer out of the oven. It will be hot, so be mindful!

Once removed, you can run them through a steady stream of hot water to free any clinging debris.

Similarly, the glass jars, designed for use with oil, need to be cleaned out thoroughly. These can also become stuck in the device, so perform the same method mentioned above to free them. These are easier to clean out than the glass spacers, and you can do so by using the q-tip from before.

The Ascent also comes with screens, but these are free-floating and are simply placed above the oven to prevent herb from getting into the straw. You can clean these with water or replace them with new ones whenever you need to.

That’s it for maintaining your DaVinci Classic and DaVinci Ascent!

Making sure that you follow these steps outline above will allow you to keep your vaporizer running at peak performance.

While some things are out of your control (like the battery dying, for instance) the vaporizer comes with a 2-year warranty for this purpose and we can get your vaporizer working again for you!
